After several weeks in Hawaii, I finally came back home and went straight to work.  First up was an engagement shoot with Jillian and Marcus. Jillian is actually a teacher at my daughter’s elementary school, which is an absolutely wonderful school and the biggest reason why we moved into the New Tampa area.  It was funny because several months ago Kylie asked me for some business cards to give to her teacher who was getting married, but she apparently forgot!  Kylie won’t be in charge of our business anytime soon, lol.  Anyway, we were lucky enough that Jillian (I still feel like I should call her Ms. Henderson) found us on her own, and we are thrilled to be a part of her wedding day (and Marcus is pretty cool too, except for being a Jets fan).

Obviously our main concern was the weather going into the shoot.  Tampa summers are unpredictable to say the least. Although it was quite humid, it wasn’t as hot as it could have been, and most importantly it didn’t rain.  Since the University of Tampa doesn’t get a sunset, we drove over to the convention center to try and get a couple semi-sunset type shots.

The Guidry Family were naturals in front of the camera and made our job very easy. They recently moved to New Tampa from Louisiana and we photographed them in the beautiful neighborhood of Bassett Creek. The serene setting, perfect weather and wonderful family who were willing to try a variety of poses made this a great family session.

The weather was perfect in the historic Tampa, Florida neighborhood of Ybor City for an engagement photo shoot with Jessica, Chris and their children Colton and Nadia. We even had a pink sunset which they said was significant because Chris proposed under a pink sky. Everyone had a great time, and after watching their parents dip a few times for the photo, the children were excited to try a photo like that as well. Their wedding date is set for January 1, 2015 and we wish them the very best!

Head over Heels Photography had the honor of shooting Shannon & Dustin’s Engagement photos in the cute, quiet little country town of Starke, FL.  After being cloudy and rainy most of the week, it cleared up and we had sunny skies for our engagement session.

It was Shannon’s wish to have their engagement photoshoot in downtown Starke.   It was a photographer’s dream with  a ton of spots that made for good photos .  We could have easily stayed there longer.

During the shoot we even had Dustin take a few photos of his bride to be. They were such naturals in front of the camera that we did not have to have take any breaks.  We wished we had an audio recording of Dustin taking pictures of Shannon and giving her instructions.  He may have a fashion photography career in the future!

We were very successful with the first round of photos and wrapped up so quick that we decided to take a 20 minute drive to a private residence in Earleton, Florida.  Located on Lake Santa Fe, this beautiful property had endless places to shoot.  There wasn’t much to Earleton, but that particular residence is a dream home.

COUPLE FUN FACT:
Shannon and Dustin, like most Floridians take their football VERY seriously. Even the sweetest couple in Florida gets competitive in January if their loyalties are different. Just so happens that Shannon went to Florida State University and Dustin went to the University of Florida. Shannon got so mad at Dustin one January when he was cheering for Auburn when they played FSU for the national championship game.

A beautiful engagement photo shoot with Jasmine & Kealii at White Plains Beach in Ewa Beach, Hawaii.

I enjoy working with shy couples like Jasmine and Keali’i, it doesn’t take long before they stop noticing the camera and start to notice each other.

Once the camera disappears their love takes over and it’s like we aren’t even there.  In fact, it worked so well they took the photo shoot into the ocean which was a great surprise. Spontaneity is the spice of life!
